There are Summer Festivals all around the world but here is my TOP 3:

1. Coachella

Picture from here

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is one of the most famous festivals of the world.
The first Coachella Festival was in 1999 and The Chemical Brothers was one of the bands that took part in the Coachella's lineup of that year. This festival only got to happen again in 2001.
Since that year it has been happening every summer.
Daft Punk, Madonna, Coldplay, Radiohead, Björk, Amy Whinehouse, The Killers, Jay-Z, Muse, Gorillaz, Vampire Weekend, David Guetta, Kanye West, Mumford & Sons and Kings of Lion are some of the bands that had the opportunity of playing in this festival.
The Coachella 2013 has already happened but the dates for next year were already said:
Weekend 1: April 11-13
Weekend 2: April 18-20

2. Lollapalooza

The Lollapalooza started in 1990.

The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts was created by Michael Eavis in 1970.
